Alice Rovannah Stroup

Alice Rovannah Stroup was born 25 December 1896 in Bartow County, Georgia. She is the daughter of John Edward Stroup and Nancy Savannah Kembrele. Alice married David Bradley Jackson on 26 January 1913 in Bartow County, Georgia.

One of her sons was John Rueben Jackson. He was born in 1931. John was an avid Stroup researcher and loved family history. John was very honored and proud to be part of the Stroup Ironmasters. He took great pride in building small furnace monuments, engraving them and putting them on the graves of Jacob II, Moses and even Moses Dellinger, who was indentured to Jacob II. Moses Dellinger lived in Jacob’s home for a number of years.

  1. My husband and I "hiked" to Jacob II Stroup's grave site yesterday (10/6/2013). We found it nearly impossible to locate due to "mother nature" reclaiming the area. Does anyone know who owns the land where the cemetery (Goodson Cemetery) is located? The cemetery is surrounded by Lake Allatoona.

    1. It is owned by Army Corps of Engineering and they refuse to keep it up. They actually told me years ago it was closed to the public. Several of us have tried to get them to change their minds to no avail.
