Janie Ophelia Stroupe age 90, of Cherryville North Carolina, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Lincoln Nursing Center.She was born September 1, 1920 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late John Wil and Frances Elizabeth Murray Stroup and was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church. She was retired from Dellinger's Jewelry Company of Cherryville.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sisters Beulah S. Shuford and Elouise S. Randall and brothers Jim, Garland, Russell and Hugh Stroupe.
Graveside services were held at the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.
Janie and her older brother Hugh Stroupe, neither marrying during their lifetime, lived in their parents home (known as the John Will Stroup place), earlier known as the John Michael and Sarah Beam Stroup home (built in the 1870s), south of Cherryville on Highway 274.
